Video Editing: Movie Maker vs. Imovie

I first started video editing when i was about 16 or 17 years old. Not for any particular reason at all, just the fact that it was summer time and had nothing to do. BOOM i realized i was not half bad at it. By no means am i at a "Professional" quality but i am only 19 and a freshman in college. My major? You guessed it, Communications with a concentration in Electronic Media. I am at Southeastern Louisiana University right now. I have not gotten into any of my "Electronic Media" classes yet but whe I do my video editing skills will SKYROCKET. But enough about me. The title of this blog is called "Windows Movie Maker vs iMovie." I just got my Macbook Pro in October and man what a difference it has made. Imovie is such better quality than Windows Movie Maker. The built in effects are better and the amount of things you can do with Imovie are so much more than Movie Maker. Imovie even lets you put green and blue screen effects over your video....Movie Maker does not. With Movie Maker you are VERY limited...I mean VERY. Now dont' get me wrong, Imovie still has limitations. I eventually want to buy Final Cut Pro. (hint, hint) its called final cut PRO for a reason. the PROfessionals use it. But all that being said if you are just starting out....start with imovie. It is much more user friendly. Why? well thats why it is limited. To make it user friendly they couldn't make it so advanced that a beginner can't use it. But you can tell a beginner and a more skilled editor apart. A more skilled editor knows all the little tricks and tweaks that a person who just started wont know. Once you find all the little tricks out you are on your way to becoming an advanced editor. I would love to sit here and list off all of the tricks but there are so many that it would take me HOURS to write.  Thats why i left it up to you guys to challenge yourselves to find the tricks yourself. And send me links to all of your videos. I would love to see what kind of skills you guys might have. Heck I might even learns something. If you want to see any of my videos you can check out my youtube channel and subscribe/rate/like while your at it ;)Vickers Video Youtube Channel
